Martin Luther King Jr. accepted the leadership of the first great Negro nonviolent demonstration of contemporary times in the United States in December 1955.
King's most influential and well-known public address is the "I Have A Dream" speech, delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 1963, in which Martin Luther
King stood up for the rights of the Black people in America.
Martin Luther King Jr. is known for his work as a peacemaker, promoting nonviolence and equal treatment for different races. The very fact that the white people and black people are now living together in harmony is the legacy and dreams fought by Martin Luther King during his time.
